The 2022 FIFA World Cup, set to be hosted by Qatar, in Al-Bayt Stadium, the opening ceremony holder, will be the first edition of the FIFA World Cup to be held in the Arab world and the first in a Muslim-majority country. And the 22nd edition of the FIFA World Cup is the quadrennial international men’s football championship contested by the national teams of the member associations of FIFA.

 The tournament has been tangled in controversy over its location and the treatment of workers in Qatar. Despite this, it is expected to be a massive success, with over one million fans attending the event, as evident from the opening ceremony.


The tournament has been scheduled for November and December 2022, when Qatar’s climate is cooler than during its usual summertime period. Thus, the match started with the opening ceremony held on 20, November, on Sunday.

The championship has been awarded every four years since the first tournament in 1930, except in 1942 and 1946 when it was not held because of the Second World War. The current champion is France, which won its second title at the 2018 tournament in Russia. The next championship held in Qatar in 2022.

Qatar presented “Al-Bayt Stadium” (Arabic: استاد البيت, romanized: ʾIstād al-Bayt, lit. ‘The House Stadium’) due to its operable skylight system for the ostentatious opening ceremony. Al-Bayt stadium has a capacity of 60,000 seats for world cup fans.

The opening ceremony takes in spectacular performances by international celebrities including the local hosts of Qatar. Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani greeted FIFA president Gianni Infantino along with Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.


         Qatar’s pitch to FIFA was not just about their modern, cutting-edge stadiums, or just a simple opening ceremony, but they also proposed a unique recitation to be featured at their games. The recitation would be based on an ancient Arab tradition that is both spiritual and inspiring.

The very famous Korean boys’ band BTS also marked their presence through Jung Kook, the youngest member, and vocalist of BTS, who stole the ceremony with his performance of his song “DREAMERS”.K-pop BTS star Jung kook performed alongside Qatari singer Fahad Al- Kubaisi.

To respect Muslim traditions and culture, some essential restrictions were made. For example, alcohol consumption publicly was prohibited but beverages were served at festivals at specific times with proper ID identification.



                The nation has committed to investing over $200 billion in infrastructure, creating 07 brand-new sustainable stadiums, and building new cities from the ground up. Not only stadiums were built but also a transport system was formed to facilitate the fans that comprise the best metro service and shortcut road routes towards stadiums.

As part of their commitment, Qatar has also promised to incorporate cutting-edge renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind, into their energy network, as well as aiming to become a completely carbon-free country by 2032.
