The 2022 FIFA World Cup, set to be hosted by Qatar, in Al-Bayt Stadium, the opening ceremony holder, will be the first edition of the FIFA World Cup to be held in the Arab world and the first in a Muslim-majority country. And the 22nd edition of the FIFA World Cup is the quadrennial international men’s football championship contested by the national teams of the member associations of FIFA.

 The tournament has been tangled in controversy over its location and the treatment of workers in Qatar. Despite this, it is expected to be a massive success, with over one million fans attending the event, as evident from the opening ceremony.

TOURNAMENT:

The tournament has been scheduled for November and December 2022, when Qatar’s climate is cooler than during its usual summertime period. Thus, the match started with the opening ceremony held on 20, November, on Sunday.

The championship has been awarded every four years since the first tournament in 1930, except in 1942 and 1946 when it was not held because of the Second World War. The current champion is France, which won its second title at the 2018 tournament in Russia. The next championship held in Qatar in 2022.

PERFORMERS AT FIFA 2022:

The very famous Korean boys’ band BTS also marked their presence through Jung Kook, the youngest member, and vocalist of BTS, who stole the ceremony with his performance of his song “DREAMERS”.K-pop BTS star Jung kook performed alongside Qatari singer Fahad Al- Kubaisi.
